Pure happiness and relief. That certain fairy I've mentioned before has set my heart free. It's all clear now and I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. (Movie Quotes That Are Too Obvious - sorry)

Only 4 days until the Oscars! I'll bake the perfect cake. And I'll surely win the "who's actually gonna stay awake 'till 7 am to see the Best Picture winner" competition, as always. 50% of caffeine, 50% of pure enthusiasm - that's my secret.

“Ja, Boston Tea Party inträffade väl under den perioden?”

Feb. 14th, 2007 | 07:25 am

café, Malmö

En mamma och hennes dotter ~15 sitter och diskuterar dotterns prov.
Mamman: Så vilka var de tre vanligaste handelsvarorna nu då?
Dottern: Hm… Guld, silver och… (funderar ett tag) Muggar!
Mamman: Muggar?
Dottern: Ja.
Tystnad.
Mamman (börjar skratta): Du menar koppar?!
Dottern: Ja, vadå då? Muggar.

Lol. En av de bästa.

It's that time of the year

Feb. 10th, 2007 | 11:31 pm

My apologies for all the Eurovision entries that you'll have to put up with during the next few weeks. I just ranked the songs for Finland's national selection which will happen next Saturday - just 200 meters from my flat!

1. "Olet uneni kaunein" - Johanna Kurkela
2. "Plane away" - Humane
3. "Left my heart behind" - Kentala
4. "Rock 'n Roll Dreams" - Jann Wilde & Rose Avenue
5. "Musta sulhanen" - Jani & Jetsetters
6. "Take a chance" - Laura
7. "Leave me alone" - Hanna Pakarinen
8. "Face in the mirror" - Thunderstone
9. "See the signs" - Beats and Styles
10. "Tietäjä" - Katra
11. "Anyone anymore" - Lovex
12. "Levitä siivet" - Jukka Kuoppamäki

I adore Johanna's look and voice and everything!

Lot of dirty gossip to share as well, but we'll get to that later hons. Too busy with all this ESC stuff right now. :P

A popular Finnish musician Kirill "Kirka" Babitzin died last night at his home of undisclosed causes. Rest in peace you sweet sweet man.

His Eurovision entry in 1984, the year I was born. So cool. :)

Uudenlainen tietoisuus ristiselästäni - brought to me by Asahi. Heti Nian jälkeen oudointa tällä hetkellä harrastamaani liikuntaa. Ja ainoata. :P

Ehkä jälkeenpäin on puhdistautunut olo?

Kolme tavua, read my lips: Dy-na-mo. Tai: Te-qui-la.

Lookin' back and forward

Dec. 23rd, 2006 | 04:56 pm

At the audience's request, here's the devilish lamp which everyone bumps their head into:

Conveniently enough, it happens to be from last X-mas. It was a special one, since the whole family was gathered together and the celebration was quite traditional.

Now my folks are in Lapland, my brother in Barcelona, and I'm sitting alone at home watching Melrose Place and eating Asian food. :D

Well, it's all good. Think it's great that my parents can just decide to skip all the Christmas chaos and do what they want. And tomorrow I'll go to my grandma's where I'll see my sister's family and my mom aswell.

P.S. SubTV shows Will & Grace from Jan 4th!!!

Home weird&lovely home

Dec. 22nd, 2006 | 10:48 am
muziek: George Michael - The Strangest Thing (gosh I luv this)

dad (looking at the clock): What do you think: is time increasing or decreasing?
stepmom: Yes, definitely
dad: I think you are right

----

stepmom (making a bed for me): What color you want your sheets to be?
me: Makes no difference, surprise me
stepmom: Red, blue, white...?
me: Something light would be nice, no strong colors... hmm, interesting, I seem to have an opinion about it after all.
stepmom: Thought so too, sometimes you just need to some encouragement

The evening also included me hitting my head to a lamp so hard that I just couldn't hold back my tears and now have a lovely bump on the back of my head. It's a common joke that you are not a member of our family before you've hit your head to that damn thing which for some strange reason cannot be relocated (well, how else would we know?).

My stepmom had bought me some damn delicious Indian vegetarian food and we watched Runoraati, a poetry programm which we all seem to love equally much. I also occupied the sauna for a small eternity and then headed to bed to read some brilliant Norwegian crime fiction.

And the vacation has only just begun. Awesome.

-Haluaisitko sinä panna minua hississä joskus?
-No en!
-Harmi
-Älä enää koskaan säikytä minua tuolla tavalla!
-Sun tyttäres muuten seurustelee mustan miehen kanssa

Onko teille koskaan käynyt niin, että löydätte jonkin vanhan muistilapun, jossa oleva teksti tuntuu ihan vieraalta, vaikka se on selkeästi omalla käsialallanne?

Kesti tovin muistaa, että kyse oli Mogadishu Avenue -sarjan dialogipätkästä, eikä mistään omista runollisista oivalluksistani.

Late Night Nonsense

Dec. 9th, 2006 | 05:17 am
muziek: Radiohead - Creep

TEN Random Things About Me
*I read a LOT of cooking books. (Mainly just out of the pure pleasure.)
*I'm a city girl; my family did live a few years "in the woods" but the only thing I really miss is lifting your own potatoes.
*My hip has been operated twice.
*I have five siblings.
*I think I have a brilliant sense of colors (thanks to my education)
*I cannot run fast, never could.
*I'm a HUGE fan on Big Brother UK Season 2.
*I cannot get enough of funny, witty men like Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Jon Steward, Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, the whole Whose Line cast... there's no limit in how many clips I can watch on You Tube. Many nights have passed...
*I wear odd socks, I have no opinion about the toilet seat or which way around the toilet paper is supposed to be... I just don't care.
*The first artist I ever loved was Army of Lovers (and I'm still crazy 'bout them...) - or was it Cyndi Lauper? :P

Would my life be any different...

Nov. 29th, 2006 | 12:35 am
muziek: Moneybrother – Nobody's Lonely Tonight

...if they had named me Heta? That was one of the three suggestions my mom had for me. Dad had three as well, I'll ask him about it when we meet. He always remembers the strangest little details.
My big sis was given the honor and responsibility to choose my 2nd name. Mom remembers being worried she'd go with Justiina or something. I think Elina is perfect, it was my favorite name of all names as a kid. And the only one of my names I genuinely liked. :) Now I'm quite comfortable with all of them. It's like accepting a certain part of your body that you felt embarrassed about when you were younger.

The gay man inside me is enjoying Christina Aguilera's newest single Hurt. I'm thinking of naming him Pascal, since I have this strange feeling that he's French (and as an honour to Cute Overload's Pascale the hedgehog). Would explain my sudden need to learn some French.

And lately, every time I've opened my mouth, some sort of verbal vomit has come out. I'll try sticking to pens and paper.

Eating pizza and cake, dancin' in Dynamo, manymanymany hugs, birthday cards and SMSs. Awesome literature, sugar in many forms, a big pile of stamps, Tanzanian tea, Finnish liqueur... and last but definitely not least, a dinner in a lovely fish restaurant in Naantali.

Thank you all for making me feel so important.

More than pretty pictures...

Nov. 13th, 2006 | 04:22 pm
muziek: Kylie Minogue - In Your Eyes

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This card arrived today, sent by my dearest A.

Strange thing #1: I never told her about my postcard preferences - black&white photos with either nude women or film stars - and yet she got it so right.

Strange thing #2: she apologizes for not remembering my exact birthday, just that it is in the beginning of November. And of course, the card arrives on my birthday, not one day sooner or later.

Feels like some sort of a sign. I got a little emotional (or a lot, but let's keep that between you and I). It's probably just because I watched Serendipity again. What a terrible, soppy movie that I love, love, love. And not least because of John Cusack. He's even more adorable than in High Fidelity, even though HF is a much better movie otherwise. I'd love to see it again, it's been a while. John Cusack movie marathon, anyone?

Which reminds me that on Sunday there will be a Monty Python movie marathon. Yay. And on Saturday I'll see my poet friends at the Jesus Festival. (The environment is... what it is, but what wouldn't I do for a good party with the ppl I love.)

Gay Rights

We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on LiveJournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

Man 1: Hur mår dottern?
Man 2: Aha. Hon mår bra.
